Theory & Practical

Complete Musical Guidance: Bridging Knowledge and Performance

At Swar Sagar Music, we believe that true musical mastery comes from a perfect balance of Practical skill and Theoretical knowledge. While practical training teaches you how to sing or play an instrument, music theory teaches you why the music sounds the way it does.

Our complete musical guidance program is designed to create well-rounded artists. We dive deep into the grammar of music—covering both the ancient science of Indian Classical Music (Hindustani Sangeet Paddhati) and Western notation. Furthermore, this comprehensive approach is ideal for students aiming to appear for prestigious music board examinations and secure recognized diplomas or degrees.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Reading & Writing Notation Systems
  • Mathematics of Rhythm (Taal Shastra)
  • Rules & Grammar of Raagas
  • Ear Training & Pitch Recognition
  • History of Gharanas & Composers
  • Preparation for Board Examinations

OUR LEARNING MODULES

Dive into the rich texts of Hindustani music. You will learn fundamental definitions and concepts such as Nada, Shruti, Swara, Saptak, Thaat, and Jati. We cover the detailed profiles (Parichay) of various Raagas, including their Vadi (king note), Samvadi (queen note), Pakad (catchphrase), and singing time (Samay Chakra).

Understanding rhythm is crucial for any musician. This module teaches how to write and recite Taals accurately. You will learn the structure of Matra (beats), Vibhag (divisions), Tali (claps), and Khali (empty beats). We also cover advanced rhythmic calculations like Dugun (double speed), Tigun, and Chaugun.

Theory is useless without practical application. In these sessions, we train your ears to identify notes and chords just by listening. You will learn how to translate written notation (Sargam or Sheet Music) into actual performance, enabling you to learn new songs independently and compose your own music.

We provide structured syllabus training for students wishing to appear for recognized music exams (such as Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, etc.). From junior diplomas to advanced degrees (Prabhakar/Visharad), our instructors ensure you are fully prepared for both the written theory papers and the practical viva rounds.
